Upgrades

• The i4 swaps the 4 Series Gran Coupé’s petrol and diesel engines for a pure electric drive, up to 544 hp in the M50
• An 81 kWh battery delivers up to 590 km of WLTP range — far beyond the 4 Series
• DC fast charging up to 205 kW adds about 164 km of range in 10 minutes
• The i4 introduced BMW’s curved display (12.3 + 14.9 inch) running iDrive 8

Fixes

• The 4 Series combustion engine’s CO₂ emissions are gone entirely
• The 4 Series engine and gearbox noise was replaced by a near-silent drive
• The 4 Series fuel and oil costs disappear with the electric i4
• The 4 Series transmission tunnel is gone, freeing footwell space

Engine & drivetrain

The i4 range runs from the single-motor eDrive35 and eDrive40 (rear-wheel drive) to the dual-motor M50 with all-wheel drive. Range reaches up to around 590 km WLTP, and DC fast-charging is quick.

Range & practicality

The i4’s long range and fast charging make it a genuinely usable electric car, while the liftback boot and comfortable cabin keep it practical every day.
