The G30 is the 5 Series at its most complete, blending limousine comfort with BMW’s sharp handling and efficient petrol, diesel and plug-in-hybrid engines.

Upgrades

Up to 100 kg lighter than the F10 thanks to the CLAR platform, with aluminium doors and bonnet.
The new B47/B48/B57/B58 engine family replaced the N47/N55/N57 and is more economical.
A longer wheelbase (2,975 mm) and wider tracks improve stability and cabin space.
Optional adaptive dampers and rear-wheel steering improve both comfort and agility.

Fixes

The F10’s slightly heavy feel — the G30, up to 100 kg lighter, is noticeably more agile.
The F10’s older N47/N55/N57 engines — the B47/B48/B57/B58 are more frugal and cleaner.
The F10’s less modern infotainment — the G30 gained iDrive 6/7 with a larger screen.
More rear space thanks to the longer wheelbase.

Engine & drivetrain

The petrol range runs from the efficient 2.0-litre B48 four-cylinder (520i, 530i) to the smooth 3.0-litre B58 straight-six (540i). The 8-speed Steptronic automatic is superb.

Comfort & tech
