The A3 (8Y) — Audi’s premium compact hatch.

The 8Y is the A3 at its most tech-forward, combining a premium, digital interior with efficient petrol, diesel and plug-in-hybrid engines.

Upgrades

The 8Y moved to the MQB Evo platform, stiffer and lighter than the 8V.
The TFSI petrol engines gained 48V mild-hybrid tech — a first for the A3.
The 10.1-inch touchscreen replaced the 8V’s smaller screen.
New EA211 evo/EA888 engines replaced the 8V’s older units.

Fixes

The 8V’s dated cabin — the 8Y finally feels properly premium inside.
A bigger, crisper 10.1-inch touchscreen than the 8V.
